Lake Orion High School will soon have a rather unique and special visitor Aug. 1 -- a visitor of the Triple Crown-winning, home-run smacking variety.
Need another hint?
It's Miguel Cabrera, the Detroit Tigers' hard-hitting third bagger who is set to offer his bat-handling expertise to area youths late this summer.
The Oakland Press' Matthew Mowery helped break the news Tuesday via his "Out of Left Field" blog on the OP web site.
Details on Miggy's Baseball ProCamp from Mowery:
The camp, open to boys and girls ages 6 to 14, will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on what's schedule to be Cabrera's off day between home series vs. the Nationals and White Sox. The Tigers star will be joined by a group of the top prep and college coaches from the region.
Cost for the camp is $99 -- which includes a T-shirt, goodie bag and an autographed team photo with Cabrera -- but [Oakland Press] readers can $15 off the camp by registering before April 1 and entering the promotional code "Oakland Press" at checkout.
You can register for Cabrera's tutorial at www.procamps.com/miguelcabrera.
If you're already a standout, the camp will only sharpen your skills. If you're a novice, learning from one of the premier hitters in the history of Major League Baseball will surely be a treat and something to remember.
